If you don't know who Shereen is, do yourself a favor and look her up on facebook, instagram etc. She is truly a great cook, gifted educator, and comes across as a really likable personality.She is known for her super short, to the point, recipe videos that anyone can do. My teen daughter turned me on to her, and I love to watch her 1 minute video clips and attempt her recipes. So when her cookbook came out, I wanted to support her and buy it. After all, she's given me free cooking lessons all through the pandemic.So here is my impression of her cookbook.Pros--She wrote this like she performs on her videos. I can hear her voice when I read it.-I LOVE the little preamble that she has right before the recipe. Gives a little info and background on the recipe.-The pictures are great- She picked some wonderful recipes that I am definitely going to try- This would make a great gift for someone- It's a soft cover- It's not huge with all kinds of weird recipes- It's a fair priceCons-- I wish she had more step by step pictures. Her videos are so appealing because she (quickly) shows you the techniques you need, and what the food looks like throughout the process. Not just the end product.- I also wish she had done a chapter on "chefie tips" that she is so famously known for. She mentioned deflating an onion as a chef tip, but I couldn't find what that is in her book. I looked it up- soaking raw onions in a little vinegar cuts down on the sharp bite of the onionWith the internet and social media, I almost never use a cookbook anymore. I can just do a quick google search and tons of videos pop up showing me exactly everything I need to know and see. I suspect that most people have abandoned cookbooks in favor of the internet. So having more pictures of the process would definitely make this book more appealing.With that said, buy the book. Worth every penny, makes a great gift, and support this amazing chef who has given so much to us with her videos.
