I have enjoyed Janine Marsh's blog for several years, and this book gives even more details of her unexpected life in a very rural village in the north of France. Her eccentric neighbors, the village events, and her "being a maid" to her dozens of animals make a fascinating read. It's so different from the "I moved to an elegant part of France" books. With Janine, you get an understanding of French life as it really is for most people outside of the cities and glamour sites. She writes about her neighbors with true affection, while entertaining us with all their eccentricities. I had to limit myself to reading one month a day so the book would last longer.
